PATCH 1.0.4 | Adjustable wings, BSOD options... and CHILLOUTVR PACKAGE!!!
Welcome fellow Avigens!
There is a sparking new patch that was just released with loads to uncover! First, I heard from some Avigen users that it can be hard to bend back the wrists due to the wing disks right above them, especially frustrating when they are in the Tucked position. it causes what the people in the virtual 3D space call "clipping" between the wrists and wing disks. This is why I have pushed a software update for all Avigens to download and install that now allows the entire wing mechanism to move back and forth along the forearms! This setting can be configured at any time through your Radial Menu system, under the Wings controls menu. It is recommended to keep it at 0 when unfolded and set it to 1 if folding wings in the Tucked position. This setting also allows for auto-stabbing when in the Weapon position by rapidly alternating between 0 and 1, useful when you need a lot of holes for a handcrafted project quickly! (NOTE: please avoid stabbing anyone using this party trick).
Second, I have had reports of mass BSOD parties, where people just keep punching and kicking in the face Avigen groups to blue screen all of them at record pace. Some people find it quite amusing (for understandable reasons, let's be real), but some others find it annoying. If I made Avigens blue screen-able just for fun as a joke, it seriously appears like it became a selling point of these things, which I am unsure if I should be proud or really worried of. Nevertheless, to remediate this slight annoyance for some, I have pushed in an update package a DLL that can be toggled on or off, which fixes the software bug that blue screened AvigenOS when the head got punched. In other words, you can now decide if you want to keep getting blue screened by being punched in the face or disable altogether this kind of BSOD. There is no indicator to tell if the DLL is enabled however, so you won't know if someone has it active or not unless they tell you.
Knowing that you can now disable the punch to BSOD "feature", I have also added a second DLL which allows users to blue screen on demand! Each Avigen now has a special button that will BSOD themselves without requiring someone or yourself to punch them in the face. Do not ask me why someone would want to break their software themselves, I have heard numerous feedback that this could apparently be useful for content creation.
And finally...
Yep! A brand new Avigen ChilloutVR package has just been released! It is 100% feature matched with VRChat, including the punch to BSOD, nuzzles, mute icon, all adjustments, etc! I originally thought I would only manage between 80-90% due to the blue screen and nuzzles requiring some specific things from VRC, but surprisingly, with CVR's pointer and triggers systems, both were 100% possible! Mute icon was also a bit of a surprise, as there is no "MuteSelf" default animator parameter like VRC. But, there is an undocumented and relatively new component that can get stuff like the mute state, time data, download progress and more and link those to animator parameters! This in fact made the mute icon possible!
Note however that the punch to BSOD and boop to restart features require users of other bases to add CVR pointer components on their avatars with the appropriate tags. Unlike VRChat, CVR does not create default pointers on any part of the body when an avatar is loaded in. This means that to have a hand contact, users need to manually add a pointer on their hand with some kind of tag (like "Hand"). I have added some contacts like index, hand and foot ones on the Avigen, but other base makers or edits need to do the same if they want to interact with the Avigen's features. I've read that the Index one is the only one that exists by default, meaning the boop should work for everyone (and I temporarily added that tag for the punch to BSOD feature), but I am not sure as I didn't have the chance to test this yet. Maybe one day CVR will add default pointers like VRC and their default contacts, but only time will tell (the only thing I know is that they care about their community a lot!)
The quick start guide in the included .txt file in the download has been updated to include the CVR package. The official PDF documentation will be updated soon with visual guides once the new CCK API is up and running.
This new package is available in the same Unity Packages download you downloaded previously, it is not a separate purchase!
And now, summarizing everything said previously with some more details, but in a more "patch notes" format!
- (CVR) NEW: ChilloutVR Unity Package! AvigenOS has been updated and now fully supports the CVR platform! Is is 100% feature matched with the VRChat version INCLUDING the punch to BSOD and nuzzles, with the exception of not having default hand and feet contacts on every user's avatar by default (which need to be placed manually by avatar creators at the moment). The txt file in the Unity Packages download has been updated with a quick setup guide for CVR. Visual documentation for this package in the official PDF is coming soon, but is very similar to the VRChat version in a lot of ways.
- (Unity / VRC / CVR) Added a new animation and animator parameter to adjust the position of the wings along the arms.
- (VRC / CVR) Added a toggle to disable the BSOD by being punched.
- (VRC / CVR) Added a toggle to self BSOD with the flick of a button.
- (Blender) Converted the legacy pose library to the new Asset Browser system (legacy poses are still available through the pose library addon).
- (Blender) Bumped the minimum Blender version to 3.2 due to the previous change.
- Clarified the TOS when it comes to refunds
- (General) Adjusted UVs and edges of visor screens in an attempt to fix a small UV bleeding at the edges of them in Unity. What happened is if a full image frame was next to the current one on the sprite sheet, a single pixel jagged line might display.
- (General) Fixed an impostor blue pixel on the BIOS boot screen logo of each recolor, changed it to white like the rest of the logo.
This update applies to the Base Unity Package, the VRChat Unity Package and the brand new ChiloutVR Unity Package. To install this update in your project, import the Base Unity Package first. Then, for VRC, import the VRC Unity Package second. To install the new ChilloutVR package, you'll need a separate project with the ChilloutVR CCK installed beforehand. It is NOT a good idea to have two SDKs in the same unity project as it can cause conflicts between them. The Beat Saber Unity Package is unaffected and does not require to be reimported.
This update also applies for the Blender source files. If you've made modifications to it, you will need to transfer your edits from your old to the new source files for the VRChat and ChilloutVR exports to work fine.
